Creating Authentic Communication

July 27th, 2011 By Kate, Posted in Leadership Skills

I’m such a fan of Susan Scott, and of her books Fierce Conversations and Fierce Leadership. This video, of a recent speech she gave ‘The Case for Radical Transparency’ will show you why.

Susan Scott is a seasoned, experienced executive coach. I love her bold common sense observations about the kind of dialogue we need in our organisations – and our homes – right now. Highlights of this video include:

  • Her humorous observations about our fear of the truth – and our belief that if we really say what we believe to be true, that other people won’t be able to handle it
  • Her dissection of the personal and corporate habit of withholding what we really think and feel
  • Her busting of the myth that it’s lonely at the top
  • Her killer question: what are you pretending not to know?

I’d love to know what you think. Please leave a comment.
